The Control Establishment is the smallest of the five trade establishments of the Commonwealth Armed Forces, setting doctrine, equipment and procurement for military policing, frontier surveillance, the hardening of installations, and chemical and nuclear defence, across every Division. It also comprises a number of customs, policing and search and rescue functions across the Commonwealth’s territorial waters.
In addition to supplying regiments with security companies, it establishes the equipment and Police commission of military police, and the Patrol Service serves as the Commonwealth’s armed border security at ports, airports and naval stations. The Chemical Defence Regiment and Nuclear Defence Regiment, both based in Oslola, provide decontamination and detection for the Commonwealth’s nuclear-powered fleet and strategic deterrent, and fall within Volcanic Division. Command of Control-manned formations rests with their parent Division, not the Establishment.

Control Equipment
Control formations typically operate equipment specified under another Establishment – littoral cutters under the Universal Hull System, coastal survey and buoy tenders, and the utility vehicles of the Security and Patrol regiments – rather than maintaining a distinct equipment inventory of their own.
