Austral Division is a sovereign formation of the Armed Forces and the Commonwealth’s southern bastion, seated at Fortress Falklands and protecting the disputed Falklands frontier together with the Antarctic approaches at Sude. It is the mirror of the Boreal Division at the opposite pole, and is closely related to the Commonwealth’s activities on the Antarctic continent. To this end, it maintains a sizeable fleet as deterrence.

Auxiliary stations at NS Falklands and AS Falklands provide the division’s naval and air component, with NS Sude sustaining the Antarctic sub-garrison. The Antarctic Patrol Section falls administratively within it.
